Germany and Ireland name swimming teams for European Aquatics Championships Paris 2026
Germany has selected a 40-strong swimming team for the European Aquatics Championships Paris 2026.
The selection includes Olympic and world men’s 400m freestyle champion Lukas Martens, world women’s 100m breaststroke champion Anna Elendt and 2024 world women’s 100m butterfly gold medallist Angelina Kohler.
The line-up also features 19-year-old Johannes Liebmann, who last month lowered the European men’s 800m record to 7:37.94, bettering the 2025 mark of 7:38.12 set by team-mate Sven Schwarz, who is also named for Paris.
The women’s selection also includes Olympic women’s bronze medallist and short course world champion in the 1500m freestyle, Isabel Gose, who won the 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle at the German Championships.
“The Olympic Games in Paris and also the World Championships in Singapore have recently given us a lot of momentum which we now want to use for our return to the French capital,” said Christian Hansmann of the German Swimming Federation (DSV).

Those talents include 18-year-olds Linda Roth and Julian Koch, who are also set to appear at the EA Junior Swimming Championships in Munich from July 7 to 12.
