Important update on NVB vetting process

There are three important changes to NVB vetting:

1. Additional question in the online NVB application for declared residences outside Ireland

Some of you may have already seen changes to the requested information when you complete the online part of your NVB application

Applicants with declared addresses in the EU, England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland will be asked further questions by the NVB online application.  See the guidance Briefing Note: NVB online vetting application additions

NB: Applications with addresses in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will now take at least 20 working days to be returned.

Applications with addresses in the EU (ROI excepted) will now take at least 10 working days to be returned.

Any application with a combination of addresses as above will take the longer of the two times to be returned.

2. Identification documents

The acceptable identity documents have been streamlined – and the requirement for these will be phased in over the next month.  All applications from 1st August 2025 will be required to be accompanied by the acceptable documents as contained in this guidance Briefing Note: ID Documents .  For the moment the NVB application form and NVB Instructions reflect these changes until 1st August when the new processing system will be in place.

3. Processing applications

The NVB requires a new application form and validation of identity process, and this will be facilitated for all applicants via the JustGo membership system.  This will come into force on 1st August 2025.

An applicant will sign into their JustGo profile and begin the NVB application process from there.  The required application form will be printed taking the information from the JustGo system as completed by the applicant, together with the new ID validation form which is then completed by the ID validator.  The new form, signed by the applicant, the validator, and the copies of the required ID must be posted to Swim Ireland as before.  The vetting process will not commence until the hard copies of the forms, correctly completed are received.  There will be further updates and screen shots for guidance throughout July.
