Late goal denies Bay victory over Marine
A GOAL in the 85th minute denied the Seagulls victory in their second pre-season friendly after they had led for near 75 minutes against English National League North club Marine at the Blue Turtle arena.
The Bay took the lead in the opening 10 minutes with a tidy finish from summer signing Aaron Williams with an angled shot across the keeper and into the far corner of the net.
Marine, whose Director of Football is former Colwyn Bay manager Neil Young, made wholesale changes at half-time but it was only after the Seagulls had made a number of changes themselves that the Merseysiders got their late equaliser with a chip over keeper Rhys Williams as he came of his line to challenge.
It was another excellent workout for the Bay squad on a baking hot day and they are next at home to Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday (July 15th, 7:30pm kick-off), when players will get more valuable match time under their belts.
COLWYN BAY: Rhys Williams, Ethan Roberts, Aron Williams (Issa Kangbo), Nathan Peate, Sol Forde, Lewis Sirrell, George Hughes, Aeron Edwards (Rhys Nash), Jamie Cumming (Josh Carey), Aaron Williams (Trialist), Louis Robles (Dan Atkins).
