Cocks Crescent Development - URGENT

The principal issue is that we feel that the main objective of the SPD should be to create a new leisure centre with a competitive swimming pool and sports hall. The new amenities would be delivered by enabling housing development so that this would not cost the council anything.

 

Unfortunately at the moment the council’s SPD does not make this the prime overriding objective and the provision of this a requirement of development.

 

There is a consultation event on Saturday 6th August at the Farmer’s Market in New Malden (which Damien will be attending at about 12.30pm to 2pm) so please attend and express our wishes:

·         The Council must prioritise a leisure centre as part of the development

·         The leisure centre must include a swimming pool

·         The pool really ought to be capable of hosting competitions (i.e. 8 lanes) to keep our Open meets in the Borough

·         The Malden Centre must not be closed under the new leisure centre is open

 

The consultation closes on 29th August so please spend time this summer responding to this important matter and strengthen the future prospects for KRSC.
