Session 4 success at the Cheshire Champs

The afternoon of 21 Jan started with 50m freestyle. Josh Williams went into this event with no expectations of a final (ranked 26th) and needed a huge PB to get a regional time. Time to try the 'relaxed-but-fast-swim' approach. Josh finished with a PB, said he felt relaxed and fresh at the end and in 24th place.  Poppy next on 100m butterfly. A small PB, technically a very good swim and 14th place.

After a LONG wait,  the 200m backstroke for Chloe, Eleanor, Poppy, Laila, Charlotte and Phoebe.  Chloe knocked an amazing 10s of her PB, finishing in 4th place and going under 3 minutes for the first time. Not bad for someone with a birthday at the end of December.  Eleanor achieved a 1.5s PB and 8th place.  Poppy knocked a staggering 15s off her PB despite the turns and finished 6th.  Improve the turns and this could be a regional time Poppy!  Laila was a fraction slower than her PB but it was a promising swim from a tired looking swimmer who finished 10th.  Charlotte was  2s slower than her PB but showed some encouraging signs to finish in 9th place. A small PB from Phoebe who finished 8th.

Another 10 points his afternoon, taking the tally to 40 which is almost double last year's total and with 6 sessions remaining!

Swimmer of the weekend came down to Chloe for a great performance at her first 'Cheshire's.   Well done Chloe.

Can't wait for next Saturday.
