Key details confirmed for this summer’s Open Water Swimming Officials Level 3 Clinic 2026 in Paris
European Aquatics has published the official Information Bulletin for the Open Water Swimming Clinic for Officials – Level 3, providing key details for this summer’s education programme in Paris during the EA Championships.
The clinic, taking place from August 1 to 2, will bring together experienced officials from across Europe for advanced training in open water swimming officiating.
The newly released bulletin outlines all relevant information for participants, including eligibility requirements, registration procedures, programme structure and logistical arrangements.
Participation in the clinic will be a prerequisite for officiating as Chief Referee or Safety Officer at European Aquatics Open Water Swimming events from the 2026 season onwards.
The course is designed for officials already certified at Level 2, with proven experience at national and international level.
Candidates must be nominated by their respective national federations and meet specific criteria related to experience and qualifications.
The programme will consist of a two-part structure, beginning with a theoretical module in Paris, followed by a practical module where selected participants will officiate at European Aquatics events under supervision.
The clinic will be delivered by leading experts in the field, including representatives from the European Aquatics Technical Open Water Swimming Committee, ensuring high-level education and knowledge transfer.
The provisional schedule includes sessions on rule updates, responsibilities of the Chief Referee and key safety aspects, concluding with an examination at the end of the course.
Registration is open to European Aquatics member federations, with applications to be submitted by May 25, 2026 through the official process outlined in the bulletin.
European Aquatics continues to place education at the centre of its development strategy, with programmes such as this clinic playing a key role in ensuring high standards, safety and consistency across open water swimming competitions.
