Conference Cup and Euro Cup water polo draws produce series of eagerly-awaited clashes

Another Monday morning was filled with excitement as three European water polo club competition draws were conducted to set the pathway for the remaining eight teams in the respective competitions, the Conference Cup Men and Women and Euro Cup Women.

2025/26 Conference Cup Men
Quarter Final Stage
20th-22nd March

Group A: CN Posillipo (ITA), Endo Plus Service Honved (HUN), Panionios GSS (GRE), Tenerife Echeyde (ESP)

Group B: VK Mornar Split (CRO), GS Apollon Smyrnis (GRE), Solatradex CN Mataro (ESP), De Akker Team (ITA)

The eight teams still in contention were divided into two groups and will play a three-day round robin tournament at a venue still to be determined over the weekend of 20-22 March.

Among the great matches in sight, there will be one historical duel as Posillipo and Honved once clashed for the Champions League trophy back in 2005.

ANC Glyfada iRepair (GRE) v Eplus CN Catalunya (ESP)

Antenore Plebiscito Padova (ITA) v BVSC-Manna ABC (HUN)

Zodiac CNAB (ESP) v Polar Bears (NED)

Ethnikos OFPF (GRE) v Pallanuoto Trieste (ITA)

Two Greek, Italian and Spanish teams made the cut, alongside a Hungarian and a Dutch club, so this stage will offer nothing less than sheer excitement.

Ethnikos and BVSC were the only teams with four wins in the Group Stage, and they will face those two Italian sides, Padova and Trieste, who finished runners-up on equal points with their respective group-winners, CNAB and Catalunya.

Final Eight
26th-29th March

Group A: Galatasaray SK (TUR), CSM Unirea Alba Iulia (ROU), Panionios GSS (GRE), Tenerife Echeyde (ESP)

Group B: Smile Cosenza Pallanuoto (ITA), ZAVK Mladost (CRO), CN Sant Feliu (ESP), NC Chania (GRE)

The second qualification round didn’t lack thrilling matches and the draw shaped two quartets with teams equally equipped with great players who could make a difference at this level.

For these teams, the schedule is demanding with three group matches on the first two days, then semis and finals on the next two – stamina will definitely play a big part in who will come out on top at the end.
