European Aquatics President contributes to SHARE 2.0 Steering Group roadmap meeting
European Aquatics President Antonio Silva has taken part in the first Steering Group roadmap creation meeting of the Sport and Society Community of Practice under the SHARE 2.0 initiative, reinforcing European Aquatics’ engagement with European-level cooperation on sport and society.
The meeting brought together Steering Group members to exchange perspectives, align on priorities and help shape the Community of Practice’s roadmap and planned activities for the coming months. The session focused on ensuring that the initiative responds to the needs of stakeholders across the European sport ecosystem and reflects shared ambitions for cooperation and impact.
SHARE 2.0 aims to organise and strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange across key areas including access to EU funding, health, innovation, sustainability and the societal role of sport. The initiative is structured around four communities of practice, supporting stakeholders in developing capacity, sharing experience and adapting to emerging challenges.
Reflecting on the organisation’s involvement, President Antonio Silva said:
“The purpose of SHARE 2.0 is to organise and strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange on important topics such as access to EU funding, health, innovation, sustainability, and sports society.
“SHARE 2.0 is based on 4 communities of practice aiming to: enhance stakeholders’ capacity to identify and use EU funding to promote sport and physical activity; promote and replicate promising practices in health, innovation, and green sport to learn from experiences; respond and adapt to potentially emerging needs.
“Great honor for EA to have a member in Steering committee in a way that we can highlight the strong values assume in our strategic plan 24-30, in a way to be aligned with Diversity, Inclusion, Integrity, Equity questions but also assume sports as a key tool for sports diplomacy.”
European Aquatics’ participation in the SHARE 2.0 Steering Group reflects the federation’s commitment to its Strategic Plan 2024–2030, positioning aquatic sports within a broader European framework that recognises sport as a driver of inclusion, sustainability and positive societal change.
