Mary McMorrow Announced as Swim Ireland Interim CEO
Chief Operations Officer for Swim Ireland, Mary McMorrow, has been announced as the Swim Ireland Interim CEO following CEO Sarah Keane’s announcement that she will depart Swim Ireland after twenty years to take up a role as CEO of Cricket Ireland. Sarah will finish up with Swim Ireland on January 31st 2026, and Mary will become Interim CEO early in January 2026 to ensure a smooth transition.
Mary has been a member of the Swim Ireland team for over a decade. She currently serves as Chief Operations Officer and Company Secretary, bringing extensive experience in governance, strategic planning, and national facilities development.
A recognised leader in Irish sport, she also serves as Co-Chair of the LEN European Aquatics Learn to Swim Commission and is a Governance Mentor for World Aquatics.
Mary’s proven leadership and deep commitment to Irish aquatics will ensure continuity and stability as Swim Ireland advances its strategic priorities.
Speaking on the announcement Mary said “I am honoured to accept the role of Interim CEO of Swim Ireland. - Adam Cox who joins the Swim Ireland Senior Leadership Team as Director of Aquatic Sports
- Sarah Kelly who joins the Swim Ireland Management Team as Operations Manager
- Kate McKnight, formerly Country Manager (UK & Ireland) for Myrtha Pools joins the Operations team in January 2026 as Swimming Facilities Infrastructure Consultant, providing consultancy on behalf of Swim Ireland to the industry and local authority sector.
- Cathal Rafferty Walsh, formerly a member of our Education team, returns to Swim Ireland and joins the Operations team as Senior Administrator and Project Lead
- We will shortly be recruiting for a Safeguarding Officer to support of Head of Safeguarding Kate Hills
- We are also delighted to welcome a number of new staff to Askeaton Pool and Leisure in County Limerick with the centre soon to be opened on a full-time basis operated by Swim Ireland, supported by Limerick County Council.
