European Aquatics unveils bulletin for Swim Safe Europe Annual Conference 2025

0 11

European Aquatics has published the official information bulletin for the Swim Safe Europe Annual Conference 2025, confirming details of the two-day event that will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 28–29 November and forming part of a wider partnership already established between European Aquatics and local Azerbaijani institutions through a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding that will support educational and social aquatic projects in the country.

The conference will be hosted at the Badamdar Hotel and Residence and will run in a hybrid format to enable both onsite and online participation; professional streaming via the European Aquatics Education Digital Platform will be provided if minimum online numbers are reached.

The programme brings together federation leaders, academics, coaches, practitioners and industry partners to focus on learn-to-swim policy, drowning prevention, retention of young people in aquatics and the practical integration of innovation into teaching and practice.

Sessions across the two days include capacity building and storytelling on Day 1 and scientific dialogue, federation collaboration and partnership work on Day 2, with special features such as an Ambassadors’ Panel and the AquaSafe Kids Project roundtable designed to translate research into scalable practice.

Confirmed contributors include European Aquatics President António Silva and high-profile practitioners and federation representatives from across the continent, with further speaker confirmations to be published in the lead-up to the event.

The Information Bulletin also sets out practical arrangements for delegates: registration is mandatory via the European Aquatics Official Learning Center, the registration deadline is 20 November 2025, and a range of ticket and accommodation packages are available for participants staying at the official hotel or attending without accommodation.

Companies, startups and organisations are invited to exhibit at the conference and to use the event as a platform to showcase products, services and research that support learn-to-swim delivery and aquatic safety initiatives. European Aquatics originally opened the host selection process earlier in the year as part of its Social Responsibility programme, reflecting the conference’s role as a key tool for building a consistent, practical framework for learn-to-swim provision across the continent.

Researchers and practitioners are encouraged to respond to the Call for Abstracts: submissions in English of 500–750 words are invited in docx format using the official template, with a deadline of 17 October 2025 and notification of peer-review decisions by 27 October 2025; accepted authors receive a reduced registration fee for the day of their presentation and must register to appear in the final programme and book of abstracts. Suggested submission topics range widely, from pre-school and school swimming through to aquatic literacy, inclusion, medical considerations and the use of technology to support learning to swim, underlining the conference’s dual emphasis on rigorous science and practical, transferable practice.

Baku was chosen as the conference host in the context of renewed collaboration between European Aquatics, the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation, Azerbaijan Medical University and the Azerbaijan Sports Academy, an alliance witnessed by the country’s Youth and Sports Minister and intended to support the roll-out of Swim Safe Europe initiatives within national strategy frameworks.

The 2025 Swim Safe Europe Annual Conference builds on the momentum of earlier Learn to Swim activity across Europe and offers a timely opportunity for delegates to exchange best practice, develop partnerships and accelerate work that will make aquatics safer and more accessible for all.
