Day 5 Report: Youth and Senior Championships Comes to a Close in Dublin

The 2025 Irish National Youth and Senior Championships came to a close this evening in Dublin with twenty-three national titles handed out throughout the final day of racing.

This morning, Lisburn claimed gold in the Open 15 and over 400m Medley Relay with a time of 3:55.44. Sundays Well took the top spot in the Female 15 and Over 400m Medley Relay, finishing in 4:27.58.

Lucie O’Keeffe (Aer Lingus) won the 15yrs Female 800m Freestyle with a time of 9:38.45. Abby Cunningham from Kilkenny was the champion in the 16yrs, coming home in a time of 9:34.75. In the 17yrs category, Ava Rock of Templeogue narrowly edged out the competition to win in 9:26.42. Rebekah Friel of Aura Dundalk went fastest in the 18yrs+ category with a time of 9:05.06.

Izabella Lehany McGoldrick of Longford secured victory in the 15yrs Female 100m Backstroke in a time of 1:08.28. Dolphin’s Lexi Dunne claimed gold in the 16yrs race, finishing in 1:05.23. Ashling McCarthy of Trojan won the 17yrs event with a strong time of 1:05.01, while Grace Davison (Ards) closed out her weekend with another national gold, posting 1:02.21 to win the 18yrs and over race.

In the Open 100m Backstroke, Helge Ho of Aer Lingus won the 15yrs event with a time of 1:01.58. John Rada from Banbridge was victorious in the 16yrs category, finishing in 1:01.70. The 17yrs title went to Rudi Lacy of ESB, who touched in at 1:00.15. Artem Chobot of Titans took gold in the 18yrs event with 57.86, and Neddie Irwin from National Centre Limerick topped the 19yrs and over division in 57.19.

The 15yrs Female 400m Individual Medley was next on the schedule with the 14yrs heading to the blocks first. Neysa Connolly of Shark took the top spot with a strong swim of 5:24.38. Georgina Walker from Drogheda led the 16yrs category, winning in 5:09.21. Niamh Connery (Shark) continued to impress, claiming gold in the 17yrs event with a time of 5:06.56, while Eva Bayley from New Ross won the 18yrs and over division in 5:13.43.

There was a change of ends for the sprint events, with the Open 50m Butterfly up first. Dylan Registe of Lisburn stormed to victory in the with a time of 24.34. Rosalie Phelan from National Centre Dublin got her hand on thew wall first to win the Female 50m Butterfly with an impressive 27.36.

The 50m Breaststroke races were equally competitive. Christian O’Brien of Athlone secured the men’s Open 15yrs and over title in 28.44. On the women’s side, Ava Jones from Portmarnock clinched first place with a winning time of 32.55.
