We’re Hiring – DEIB & Women in Sport Manager
Swim Ireland, the National Governing Body for aquatics on the island of Ireland, seek a dynamic and experienced Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) & Women in Sport (WIS) Manager to support the organisation to ensure swimming is for everyone; all ages, abilities, genders and backgrounds. This is a very exciting opportunity to help shape the future landscape of swimming and encourage everyone to be part of our swimming community.
Reporting to the Head of Participation & Activation, the DEIB & WIS Manager will be responsible for driving delivery of our DEIB Strategy, leading the DEIB cultural across the organisation, our stakeholders and the wider swimming community. You will build on those areas of the sport where we are inclusive and diverse, celebrating success and seek to increase swimming inclusivity, diversity and ability for tackling inequalities.
The role also incorporates the responsibility for the on-going management, implementation, and monitoring of Swim Ireland’s Women in Sport Action Plan. You will play a key role in supporting departments across Swim Ireland to ensure gender balance throughout all areas of the sport
Swim Ireland is the National Governing Body (NGB) for Swimming, Water Polo, Diving and associated Aquatic Disciplines on the island of Ireland. Swim Ireland’s Head Office is based at Irish Sport HQ, National Sports Campus, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 with circa 60 employees. Swim Ireland’s remit as a Governing Body is to increase participation, run the competitive aspect of our sport and to provide a framework for regulation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, and Belonging
- National expert within Swim Ireland on DEIB, ensuring Swim Ireland DEIB policies are up to date and incorporated within our organisation as a whole
- Advising and assisting the Head of Participation & Activation to provide DEIB support to the Board, Management team, staff, stakeholders and all those involved in swimming
- Support the Head of Participation & Activation in the development and delivery of the Swim Ireland DEIB Strategy
- DEIB delivery within existing strategies such as National Swimming Strategy and Swim Ireland Strategic Plan
- Driving a strong DEIB culture across Swim Ireland, all stakeholders and the wider swimming community
- Work with the Head of Participation & Activation and the DEIB Strategic Committee to ensure that policies and delivery are based on an in-depth understanding of communities
- Act as Lead Officer for the DEIB Operations Committee and Support Officer for the DEIB Strategic Committee
- Encouraging ownership of DEIB in departments across Swim Ireland, all stakeholders and the wider swimming community, empowering and supporting people to design and deliver their own contributions
- Improving data quality and collection across Swim Ireland and the wider sport to allow detailed tracking of DEIB metrics to demonstrate progress against our commitments and to our stakeholders
- Identifying, developing and managing strategic partnerships with organisations and partners who can help us achieve our DEIB ambitions
- Developing plans and assist in securing funding to support DEIB programmes
- Provide advice and guidance to ensure programmes are inclusive, accessible, and meet the needs of diverse communities
Women in Sport
- Oversee the on-going management, implementation, and monitoring of Swim Ireland’s Women in Sport Action Plan.
- Develop, implement and manage projects, programmes or initiatives that fulfil the objectives and actions as set out in the Swim Ireland Women in Sport Action Plan.
- Work with relevant Swim Ireland Departments who are delivering WIS programmes at an operational level to ensure that objectives are being met.
- Support the auditing and evaluation of currently funded initiatives under the Women in Sport Programme.
- Support the Communications Team in the development and delivery of Women in Sport specific campaigns.
- Promote and advocate policy links and strategic actions in areas of crossover between the work of Swim Ireland and that of Government departments and organisations.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with Sport Ireland and other national and local stakeholders in respect of WIS.
- Seek opportunities to work collaboratively with other NGBs on WIS.
Other
- Ensure that the highest safeguarding standards are ingrained throughout programmes and CPD.
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure programmes are fit for purpose.
- Attend industry events and networking opportunities as required.
- Other duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management/ Science, Education, Public Health, or a similarly related field.
- Experience in implementing EDI and creating positive change and cultures
- Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with stakeholder groups to drive diversity and inclusion and provide an improved experience.
- Experience in the sports or non-profit sector is highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Eligibility to work in Ireland on a full-time basis.
- Some evening and weekend work is expected, with flexible working hours also required.
- Full, clean driving license and access to vehicle.
- Excellent working knowledge of IT and software packages including MSOffice, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

RENUMERATION AND LOCATION
- The package will include a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience to commence at circa €42,000 per annum.
- Position Tenure: 3 year fixed-term full-time contract.
