Dates announced for 2026 European Aquatics Championships in Paris as Marchand prospect prompts sell-out expectations
Dates have been released for next year’s European Aquatics Championships, which will be the first major international championships at the Paris 2024 Olympics venue since the Games.
A sell-out crowd is expected at the Olympic Aquatic Centre in Paris St Denis – the only permanent sports facility built for the 2024 Games – with ticket sales being driven by the likely participation of France’s Leon Marchand, who thrilled his country with four Olympic titles in the pool last summer.
Meanwhile the French Swimming Federation (Fédération Française de Natation: FFN) is preparing to release early-bird tickets to licensed members on June 27.
The European Aquatics Championships will run from July 31 to August 16.
The programme is:
• Artistic Swimming and Diving, from July 31 ending on August 5 and August 6, respectively.
• Open Water Swimming in the Seine, from August 4 to August 8.
• The swimming programme will run from August 10 to 16.
• High Diving dates will be confirmed later.
The 38th edition of the European Aquatics Championships will take place in Paris 100 years after they were first held in Budapest in 1926.
European Aquatics President Antonio Silva said:
“France has a long and successful tradition in our sport, and it is great to see so many successful performances from French athletes already this summer. I’d like to give a special thanks to President of FFN Gilles Sezionale and his team, the French authorities, who are completely engaged with the project, and all those at European Aquatics who work hard to make this event a reality. We often speak about the legacy of an Olympic Games, but in 2026 we will be able to witness Europe’s best athletes competing at Paris’ beautiful Olympic Aquatics centre .”
