European Aquatics U23 Swimming Championships in Samorin: Bulletin now available for World Aquatics Championships final qualifier

0 26

The official bulletin for the European Aquatics U23 Swimming Championships 2025, which will take place from June 26 to 28 in Samorín, Slovakia, is now available to view.

Serving as a final qualification opportunity for the World Aquatics Championships that start in Singapore on July 11, this will be the first of two prestigious events taking place back-to-back at Samorín’s state-of-the-art x-bionic sphere – Slovakia’s National Olympic Training Centre.

The same world-class venue will then play host to the European Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships 2025 which will take place from July 1 to 6.

This will mark the first time a single nation has hosted both events in the same year, solidifying Slovakia’s reputation as a hub for elite sports. Samorin, described as “a hidden gem nestled along the Danube River”, is just a short drive from the Slovakian capital of Bratislava.

The Championships, which have received €500,000 in support from the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, were officially confirmed earlier this year during a signing ceremony attended by Antonio Silva, President of European Aquatics, and Ivan Šulek, President of the Slovak Swimming Federation (SSF).

In his opening message to the bulletin, Silva hails what he describes as “a major promotion for age-group competition next summer,” adding:

“The European Aquatics U23 Swimming Championships was launched in 2023 to serve as a vital bridge between junior and senior swimming, to give Europe’s emerging stars a platform to refine their skills and compete at the highest level against their peers.

“This second edition will build on the success of the inaugural event in Dublin, which showcased athletes such as future Olympic champion Daniel Wiffen, who won a gold medal at his home pool in front of a sold-out crowd.

“This year’s event in Slovakia will be the last opportunity for athletes to qualify for the 2025 world championships in Singapore, adding even more credibility to the event.”

Silva extended his “sincere gratitude to the Slovak Swimming Federation, the Local organizing committee, and all those contributing to the success of this prestigious event, especially the sponsors and volunteers, whose dedicated support is vital.”

Šulek commented: “We are committed to doing our best to ensure this extremely important event secures its place as an established part of the European aquatics calendar.

“None of this would have been possible without the strong support of the newly established Ministry of Sport and Tourism, which is charting a new path for Slovak sport.”

The event is open to athletes born between 2002 and 2006. Official training will take place from June 23 to 25.

The bulletin includes comprehensive details on race formats, training schedules, accommodation, visa requirements and event logistics.
