Eight 2025 EA events in first wave to sign up for Aquatics Social Responsibility measures

0 3

Eight of the European Aquatics (EA) events for 2025 have already signed up to implement sustainable measures developed within the Aquatics Social Responsibility (ASR) programme.

The measures – which cover clean environment and water saving, waste management, energy cost management and reducing carbon footprints – are a key part of the seven-year EA Strategic Plan established last year and the EA Action Plan for this year.

Each certificated event will be able to display a “blue wave for sustainability in motion” poster – as seen above – attesting to its inclusion in this common initiative to honour and sustain the environment.

Local organising committees are finding creative ways to work with the EA in order to contribute to the protection and preservation of water, recycle waste generated at each event, reduce energy cost in aquatics facilities and to measure, reduce and compensate the carbon footprint.

The eight events already certified within the ASR programme are:

  • European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup Leg 1 – May 3, Protaras (CYP)
  • European Aquatics Artistic Swimming Championships – June 2 to 5, Funchal (POR)
  • European Aquatics Junior Open Water Swimming Championships – June 19 to 21, Setúbal (POR)
  • European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup Leg 2 – June 22, Setúbal (POR)
  • European Aquatics Junior Diving Championships – June 23 to 29, Athens (GRE)
  • European Aquatics Junior Artistic Swimming Championships – June 25-29, Athens (GRE)
  • European Aquatics Water Polo Championship U18 Men Division I – August 18 to 24, Rio Maior (POR)
  • European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup Leg 5 – September 27, Razanac (CRO)

The process of creating new sustainability protocols within the European Aquatics domain is now fully underway – and rapidly gathering pace.
