Glenrothes ASC Club President
Massive well done to Glenrothes ASC club president Duncan, Scottish Clubsport Service To Sport Award Winner 2024 at the Kirkcaldy and Central Fife Sports Council.
Duncan's 'This is Your Life' - It all started when Duncan joined Dunfermline Football Club as the Club Historian nearly 30 years ago. He wrote, and to this day continues to write, the club programme. Whilst doing that and his full time job, in Community Education, Duncan was also GASC Club President which he was committed to for 15 years. During this time he gained his swimming level 2 qualification and was a coach at GASC. He stayed on as President even once all his children had stopped swimming! He later had a break from swimming, although was still Dunfermline Football Club's Historian and still wrote the programmes, gaining multiple awards for this over the years. In 2020, he became involved with Glenrothes Rugby Club, due to his grandsons playing for them, where he became a coach and was also heavily involved in the running of the club. His involvement meant that the club grew significantly during this time. He stopped this in 2022 due to his return to the world of swimming and in 2022 he became Vice President for GASC and then Club President in 2023. Duncan is committed to making GASC the best it can be and he continues to support and encourage each and every child he meets to keep going, be better and to never give up.
