Kangaroo taking a dip in backyard swimming pool during Australian wildfires caught on camera
AMID sweltering Australian temperatures, one muggy marsupial turned a rural woman’s backyard pool into his own private pool.
The record-breaking heatwave, which approached 110 degrees Fahrenheit on Dec. 20, sent one hot hopper jumping into a New South Wales pool to cool off Saturday, video shows.
“I laughed at first – it’s not something you see every day,” said the woman, Sharon Grady, according to Storyful.
“We thought we were going to have to help get him out… and then the kangaroo just jumped out of the pool.”
The video caught the ‘roo lounging chest-deep in the water.
Grady said kangaroos have frequented her property – due to the pool – since the heatwave and drought hit the continent.
“They often come up and have a drink,” Grady said. “But that’s the first time we’ve encountered one in the pool since we’ve been here.”
New South Wales was experiencing an “intense drought” according to the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
