[Swimming & Diving] Season continues with dual at Illinois Tech

Competing in their third dual in as many weekends, the Bees split at Illinois Tech Saturday. The women won 132-71 to move to 2-1 in duals this season while the men fell for the first time, 111-110.

Five different Bees won individual events for the SAU women.

Molly Sullivan won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:20.25, edging teammate Emily Hartman, who took second in 2:21.14.

St. Ambrose also finished 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke with Maria Quilty winning in 1:06.14. Caitlin Pieroni was second in 1:07.64. Pieroni won the 1000-yard freestyle in 12:10.42 with Quilty taking third in 12:32.80.

Catie Schimmelpfenning touched the wall in 57.78 seconds to win the 100-yard freestyle. Isabelle Shook was third in 59.96 seconds. Delaney Janosek was the other SAU winner, taking the 500-yard freestyle in 5:53.29. Jade Hoogestraat finished third in 6:07.36.

SAU had second- and third-place finishers in three events. Megan Johnson and Dani Crum finished 2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.37 and 27.38 seconds, respectively. Hartman was runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.29 with Schimmelpfenning taking third in 2:04.51. Sullivan (1:11.17) and Valentina Espinosa (1:15.25) were second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Bethany Anderson added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.28.

The Bees also won both relays. Crum, Sullivan, Anderson and Schimmelpfenning took the 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.09, and Quilty, Kelly Baughman, Johnson and Anderson won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:47.53. The team of Hartman, Shelby Thede, Sydney Branson and Janosek were second in the 200 free relay.
