Stanford wraps up 25th Directors’ Cup, plus Capital One Cup for men, women

What do you call a sports dynasty that has lasted almost a quarter century?

Stanford.

The school has locked up the Learfield Directors’ Cup for the 24th straight year, as well as the men’s and women’s divisions of the Capital One Cup.

Both the Directors’ Cup and the Capital One Cup honor the nation’s most successful college athletic departments.

Stanford won national championships in men’s and women’s soccer, women’s swimming and women’s tennis.

In the Directors’ Cup, UCLA was second and USC third. Cal was 17th, buoyed by its national title in women’s rowing.

The Pac-12 struggled in the most visible sports.
