Plan B…or C…or D

0

And so the week is blowing away…literally…and the mind turns to Plan B (and beyond!). When the weather looks like:…the only choice is to start looking beyond……which unfortunately isn’t a lot better!

Although it was only a small window yesterday, nearly everyone went out with 8 solos being completed in times from 7:44 to 17:48; and 1 Relay in 14:20. But now that smallest of windows is closing down again. So the backlog builds…

My pilot, Neil Streeter on Suva, has 2 solos, 2 relays and my swim waiting which is a lot less than many of the other pilots. But there are new swimmers and new relays waiting on each tide who have precedent. So we would need a long clear spell to catch up…and next week is a Spring tide which is much stronger than the Neap, adding an extra factor into the mix.

In the end, Plan B and Beyond is all down to flexibility. Will a swimmer put their life on hold to jump on any clear window that materialises? In most cases, their lives have been on hold anyway for a year or more of training…so what does a few more weeks or months matter?

Well Sarah, the children and work might have a different perspective…!
