[Women's Soccer] Women's Soccer Looks for Big Uptick This Year

0

The Lady Bearcats Soccer team has a rough year behind them and is ready to make a huge jump this season.  Last season had a team forced to utilize many freshman players for big minutes who simply were not strong enough for the college matches.  An extensive weight and swimming training regimen in the spring will allow the ladies to enter the pitch ready for this year's campaign.  The Lady Bearcats will be led this season by captains Desirae Renfrow and Jerrica Kidd, both seniors.  A huge block of returners will be joined by freshmen Abby Logsdon, Geralyn Smith, Jordan White and Michala Knight.  Nicole Gray transfers from York College and should provide immediate speed for the Lady Bearcats.

Since the Lady Bearcats were so injured and young last season, the improvement should be immediate.  Coach David Ralph in looking forward to his first season that is not a rebuilding year, but instead a year to see the talented players finally shine.  The schedule is just as tough this season including the entire River States Conference lineup where the Bearcats have been winless over several seasons.  Ralph expects to upset the power in the conference this year as they hope to pull off some big wins.

One date the entire team is looking forward to is our home match against Oakland City.  That will be our Military Appreciation Game as we honor the brave men and women who have served our country. The Lady Bearcats have strong family ties to the military and this will be on full display for that game.
