2017 London Jubilee River Swim

0
Sunday 11th June was a Great day for Watford Swimming Club

.

The Jubilee River Swim is a beautiful 10k swim which is split into 4 sections by 3 weirs.
This year we entered 2 relay teams. In second place out of all the relay teams came:
“Blue Marlins”, namely Pedro Irvine, Harrison Lees, James Irvine, and Shannon Nichols.
Closely followed in fourth place by “Red Snappers” who were Harrison Bullock (Berko swim club), Victoria Pope, Callum Bullock (Berko swim club) and James Pope.
They were by far the youngest of the 58 relay teams but what’s more impressive is they swam skins (without wetsuits) in the 16C water.
With parents following on the tow path, our tough guys jostled for position in the elite wave. They went under bridges, through dark tunnels, dodging sticks, weeds and slower swimmers.
At the end of each section the timing chip was passed over and the swimmer sprinted to the next entry point. With the sun on their backs our teams weaved through swimmers in the earlier waves to a fantastic finish.

6 swimmers from our master’s squad competed with 320 solo swimmers. The results were: Paul Cuthbert (18th solo M), Ben Cope (24th solo M), Ian Gregory (16th solo M), Alice Jennison (16th solo F), Sasha Wisdish (4th solo F) and me Jeremy Irvine (16th solo M skins).
Entries have already opened for next year and are filling fast.

So have you got what it takes? Will you be 14 years or over by June 2018?
If so then drop me a line quickly at openwater [AT] watfordswimmingclub [DOT] co [DOT] uk
