QUEEN’S PARK FC can confirm the club has reluctantly accepted a significant bid from St Johnstone FC for the transfer of Josh Fowler.
The striker was signed from Dubai City in the summer, and has scored 19 goals in 25 appearances this season.
Unsurprisingly, this form attracted external interest and an agreement has now been reached for the remaining four months of his contract, subject to SFA approval.
Head coach Sean Crighton said: “Naturally, we are extremely disappointed to lose a player of Josh’s quality. He has had a fantastic impact since we worked with him and gave him the platform in the William Hill Championship. His goal record this season speaks for itself.
“Both the club and myself made every effort to persuade him to see out the season at Queen’s Park.
“I had various meetings with Josh to discuss the future with offers of improved terms. He was out of contract in the summer and free to speak to other clubs, however he has made a decision to move now and a substantial fee has been agreed.
“It is a difficult situation but if a player’s mind is made up I would never stand in their way, not only in the interests of the player but in terms of the club and the club environment.
“We thank Josh for his contribution to our season so far and will now focus on preparations for Arbroath on Saturday.”
