Bad Bunny Cancelled? Roger Goodell Responds To Super Bowl Rumors

Despite notable backlash, the NFL is not considering dropping Bad Bunny as the halftime performer for this season’s Super Bowl. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell affirmed that stance on Wednesday, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Bad Bunny was announced as the SB halftime show performer back in September.

“It’s carefully thought through,” Goodell said, per Schefter. “I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”

“We’re confident it’s going to be a great show,” Goodell continued, per Schefter. “He understands the platform that he’s on, and I think it’s going to be exciting and a united moment. He’s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world. That’s what we try to achieve. It’s an important stage for us. It’s an important element to the entertainment value.”

Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is an unquestionably massive success in the global music industry. Since 2016, his Spotify streams exceed 80 billion, making him the platform’s most-streamed artist ever. In 2025, his sold-out World’s Hottest Tour grossed over $570 million, ranking among history’s top tours.
