Three Man United starlets handed new squad numbers ahead of 2025-26 season
Manchester United have begun their pre-season preparations for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.
The Red Devils have had a rich history of promoting youngsters to the senior set-up.
That ethos is set to thrive under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who embarks on his first full season in charge at Old Trafford.
According to journalist Rich Fay, three Man United youngsters have been handed new squad numbers.
Lacey will wear No. 61, Mantato dons No. 70, and Munro will take the No. 65 shirt, as United prepare for an exciting summer tour.
As per the reliable X account Sully Talkz, Mantato trained with the first team today with the expectation of being involved in pre-season.
The 17-year-old is a highly-rated youngster who could be a great fit for Amorim in his 3-4-2-1 formation.
While primarily a right-winger, the dynamic teen is also capable of operating as a right wing-back.
He featured in 22 games in the Under-18 Premier League, bagging 13 goals and two assists.
Mantato has been capped at various youth levels by England and could be given a chance to impress the head coach in the upcoming tour to the United States.
Shea Lacey continues to capture attention with his technical brilliance, despite injury setbacks that have interrupted his momentum.
He was also part of United’s tour to Hong Kong in May, where his slick cameos turned heads and hinted at his immense potential.
He also favours playing on the right wing, but has the technical ability to play more centrally.
His main target for the first half of the next campaign should be to stay injury-free and earn plaudits at the under-21 level.
Reece Munro started alongside Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven in the post-season friendly match against ASEAN All-Stars.
The club hold Munro in high regard and recently rewarded him with his first professional contract, which is a testament to his rapid development.
He is an athletic centre-back who could see his role expand this season, especially following the exits of Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans.
