Morgan Gibbs-White transfer race set for big twist this week amid Tottenham links

0 2

Tottenham Hotspur are at risk of being left adrift in the race for Morgan Gibbs-White’s signature after Fabrizio Romano revealed the big development to come over the next few weeks.

Based on what we have been hearing from various sources over the last few weeks, it appears that Ange Postecoglou’s men are looking at homegrown options to bolster their squad in the middle of the park.

We have heard that Tottenham have already held talks over the free signing of Lille midfielder Angel Gomes while other outlets have said over recent weeks that Spurs are eyeing a move for Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Another Nottingham Forest star has also been heavily linked with a move to N17 over recent months, with Tottenham thought to be admirers of Morgan Gibbs-White.

Fabrizio Romano provides a big update on Morgan Gibbs-White

A few weeks ago, The Athletic offered Tottenham a blow by revealing that Manchester City are ready to enter the race to sign Gibbs-White, having identified him as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed City’s interest in the Forest star, revealing that Pep Guardiola’s men have identified the 25-year-old as a ‘priority target’ for the summer.

The journalist adds that the Manchester club are planning to advance on the England international in the ‘next weeks’ and are not expected to have any issues in agreeing personal terms with the player.

However, Romano adds that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have still not given up hope of keeping Gibbs-White at the City Ground.

Tottenham may need to turn their attention to other alternatives

Gibbs-White always seemed like an overly ambitious target for the Lilywhites, especially given the kind of season the club have just had.

If the midfielder is going to leave Forest this summer, he will want to join a side where he is guaranteed to compete for silverware.

Tottenham Hotspur are not in a position to attract players of that calibre right now even if they manage to secure Champions League qualification via the Europa League.
