George Abbott has been handed the English Football League’s Goal of the Season award, and the Tottenham youngster admits he never thought he would win an award for his goalscoring exploits.
While some youngsters struggle to cope with the pressure that comes with playing in the EFL on loan, others thrive under the added expectations.

The teenager is thought of highly in Tottenham academy due to his versatility, technical quality and tactical intelligence, but he has shown another string to his bow this season, regularly making contributions in the final third.
Abbott has scored six goals and provided seven assists across all competitions this term, and almost all of his goals have been superb strikes rather than tap-ins.
Undoubtedly, the best of the lot was his fine strike against Accrington Stanley back in January, with the Spurs loanee running onto a looping corner kick and connecting beautifully with a volley, which sailed into the top corner.
That strike has now been deemed the best goal of the campaign across the EFL, with Abbott taking home the prestigious award.
