U18s Report: Dundee United 0 Hibs 5
It was another convincing win for the wee Hibees on Friday night who strolled to victory over Dundee United at Foundation Park.
Darren McGregor’s side put five past the Young Terrors in what was a dominant display from start to finish.
Dean Cleland scored twice with Buckley, Lewis Gillie and Jamie McMurdo also on target in a 5-0 victory.
The Hibees took the lead after 12 minutes after Dean Cleland turned in McMurdo’s cut-back inside the six-yard box.
We double our advantage moments later – this time, Adam Buckley rose the highest in the six-yard box to nod home from an in-swinging corner.
We continued our search for goals in a rampant first half with Lewis Gillie smashing home a volley from close range.
The goal came from another set-piece which was played short before an inviting cross was whipped in towards the six-yard box, the Hibs centre-back timed his run perfectly and applied the finish to put the game beyond any doubt.
We made the perfect start to the second half with a goal inside 90 seconds. Jamie McMurdo got in on the action with a left-footed strike from just inside the penalty area after some good work down the right-hand side.
More chances fell the Hibees way in the second period but our fifth and final goal came just after the hour mark.
Jamie McMurdo turned provider this time, dispossessing a Dundee United defender before powering through on goal. The striker showed great composure and unselfishly squared it to the supporting Cleland who made no mistake with the finish – tapping the ball into an empty net.
The home side came close to netting a consolation goal but were denied by the woodwork and the wee Hibees saw the game out from there to claim another three points and a solid clean sheet.
