Dejan Kulusevski says one Spurs signing has made things easier for the team

0 1

Tottenham’s squad has gotten a lot better over the summer, with players coming and going. One new player in particular has really impressed Dejan Kulusevski, and here’s why.

Spurs have a focal point now

Since Harry Kane left the club, Tottenham have been lacking a focal point; a player who can be the spearhead of the team and be the one that all of the attacking moves lead to.

In the signing of Dominic Solanke, it appears Ange Postecoglou has remedied that, with the new striker hitting the ground running since joining the club this summer.

The marksman made it three goals in three games with a neat finish against Manchester United on Sunday, poking home after Pape Matar Sarr flicked the ball on from a corner.

Speaking to the press (via Football.London) after the win over United, Dejan Kulusevski was full of praise for his teammates, and gave a special mention to the efforts of Solanke.

He said: “He impressed me a lot with his work rate especially. He’s a great guy, and he’s making a lot of things much easier to us, and when he scores goals that’s the best thing.”

Solanke is delivering more than just goals

Clearly, Solanke is off to a good start when it comes to goalscoring, which is obviously his main priority as Tottenham’s striker.

However, anyone watching his performances, or looking deeper at the statistics from each game, can see that Solanke is offering so much more than just goals.

His work rate in pressing the opposition defence, holding up the ball, challenging for duels across the pitch, and linking up with his teammates is proving invaluable to Tottenham’s efforts, and making them a far more dangerous proposition.

Solanke can be a game-changer for Spurs

Last season, although Richarlison and Son did well when they played in the number 9 role, we never had that consistent presence up front to feed on the opportunities we were creating.

Now, with Solanke in the team, the rest of the players can get into a real rhythm and know that their passes will find the right man in the right place in the box, and that the ball will likely end up in the back of the net.
