Mariners Game #110 Preview: TEX at SEA, 7/31/25
Geno, George, and the home stretch.
Pencils down, everyone. The Trade Deadline has concluded, with the Seattle Mariners adding to their lineup at both infield corners and some bullpen depth for good measure. The rest of the division made high-profile but unclear additions, and now it’s just what can be made of the final two months of the season. That begins tonight, with Seattle’s primary threat from the rear in the Texas Rangers nipping at their heels, bringing Kumar Rocker to bear against George Kirby and Seattle’s fully loaded lineup.
Lineups:
Despite a strange momentary rumor, Adolis García was NOT dealt to the Mets. Instead, the M’s kick off a pivotal four-game set with a new look atop the lineup. Struggling SS J.P. Crawford shifts to the eight hole, while OBP-monster Randy Arozarena gets to start things off, with MVP front runner Cal Raleigh hitting second. All but daring opponents to place a lefty in against the bottom of the order, Seattle’s lefties are stacked late, and prodigal son Eugenio Suárez is hitting 5th and playing 3rd.

News:
I mean where to begin. The trade deadline threads are a good place for a check-in on the whirlwind of activity league-wide, but Seattle’s moves were only procedural after last night’s big announcement. Eugenio Suárez was activated, replacing Tyler Locklear on the big league roster, and 3B Ben Williamson was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma in favor of UTIL Miles Mastrobuoni whose positional experience stretches to the outfield. Williamson may work in the outfield some here and there down the stretch, given his defensive chops on the infield dirt.
