Royals to open season in Cleveland, as 2020 schedule is revealed

The home opener is July 31 against the White Sox.

The Royals will begin the season on July 24 in Cleveland at 6:10 CT, according to the revised 60-game 2020 MLB season was revealed Monday evening. They will play their home opener on July 31 against the Chicago White Sox.

The Royals play 17 games to begin the year before their first off day on August 10. The Royals will travel to Wrigley Field to play the Cubs on August 3 and 4 before returning to Kansas City to host them on August 5 and 6. Mike Moustakas and the Reds will come to Kansas City on August 11 and 12 with the Royals traveling to Cincinnati on August 18 and 19. The Royals will head across the state to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals on August 24-26, then host them in the second-to-last series on September 21-23. The Royals will head to Milwaukee to take on Lorenzo Cain on September 18-20, but the Brewers will not make a visit to Kansas City.

Each team will play 40 games within their own division, and 20 games against the corresponding division in the other league to limit travel. Teams will not play divisional opponents an equal times at home and on the road.

According to MLB Network, the Royals have one of the easiest starts to a schedule.
