Canada’s Team Lott earns bronze at 2026 World Mixed Doubles Championship
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — Canada’s Kadriana and Colton Lott concluded a memorable week at the 2026 ACE & Company World Mixed Doubles Championship by clinching the bronze medal on Saturday morning.
Less than 24 hours after a disappointing semifinal loss, the married duo from Gimli, Man. rebounded with a dominant 11-3 victory over Italy’s Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner.
With national coaches Scott Pfeifer and Viktor Kjell, Team Canada capitalized on their scoring opportunities, notching two four-enders and one three-ender. The decisive moment came in the sixth end when Canada used its power play to draw for four, sealing the win.
“I said to Colton again this morning, let’s get that medal and coming to an event like this; they’re once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and to have a medal, you never know when you’re going be back,” Kadriana Lott said, who earned her first-ever world curling medal.
The win also marked Colton Lott’s second international medal of the 2025-26 season, after winning silver last month playing third for Team Matt Dunstone at the World Men’s Curling Championship.
“There’s no words that can describe this feeling right now,” Colton Lott said. “Other than just gratitude, just super, super proud of Kadriana. She carried herself so well this week and played so well. I’m happy for us, but I’m super happy for her to get her first-ever world medal.”
Canada’s 89 per cent shooting accuracy outpaced Italy’s 65 per cent. A costly Italian miscue in the first end allowed Canada to jump ahead, as Italy came up light on a draw and Canada capitalized with a tap around a guard to score four.
“It gives us all the momentum going forward, right from the get-go,” Colton Lott said. “Especially after that first end, we could really tell that they weren’t quite on their game, and as long as we kept applying pressure, tried to make them make really precise shots, we were going to get mistakes, and for the most part, we capitalized on that and just kept bending all the way through.”
Team Lott extended the lead in the third end by scoring three more. Italy made a double while throwing against four, but Canada executed the draw for a commanding six-point advantage.
Canada’s defence matched its offensive power, holding Italy to three single points: one in the second end, another on Italy’s power play in the fourth, and a steal in the fifth after Kadriana Lott was drawing against four.
The fifth-end draw proved crucial. Needing a piece of the button while drawing against four, she limited the damage to a single stolen point and prevented an Italian comeback.
This marks Canada’s first medal at the world championship since 2019.
“To share this together, to go on world stages to different parts of the world, it’s something we want to continue, and we’ll cherish these moments forever throughout our lives,” Kadriana Lott said. “Just super proud of us, and I’m happy to have that medal around our necks and happy to be standing at the podium at the end of this week.”
The gold-medal game between Australia’s Tahli Gill/Dean Hewitt and Sweden’s Therese Westman/Robin Ahlberg is scheduled for 8 a.m. Eastern.
