The President of Republic visited the JWC and learned about weightlifting

Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote President of the Republic of Fiji paid a visit to the Junior World Championships held in the FMF Gymnasium, Suva.

His Excellency, who enjoys tremendous popularity all over the country, arrived at the competition with the First Lady and was acquainted with the weightlifting competition, starting from the warmup hall, where he learned about the two lifts, the tactics and the process of the competition.

While the couple was watching the competition, they received further explanations from Dr Tamas Ajan and Pyrros Dymas, multiple Olympic Champion.

After the victory ceremony, in which the President personally took part, he hosted a dinner for IWF dignitaries.

“Fiji is proud to host this important event and the Fijians are doing their best to make everybody feel at home. Never before have so many countries been represented at a sports event in Fiji,” said Mr Konrote to Dr Tamas Ajan, IWF President.
