Cheshire Juniors strike gold

Another great day of competition for the younger and generally less experienced swimmers of Centurions.

Six speeding tickets were issued, i.e. going too fast on the day for the standard of the competition (Eleanor Ma 2, Laila Johnson 2, Mary Smith and Rose Maskill 1 each), 5 gold medals (Eleanor Ma 2, Chloe Bedford, Katie Ridge and Poppy Maskill 1 each), 8 silver (Beth Bradley 3, Harvey James 2, Eleanor Ma, April Moore and Poppy Maskill 1 each), and 6 bronze (April Moore 2, Beth Bradley, Cameron Hand, Harvey James and Rose Maskill 1 each).

There were 26 additional finishes in the top 8. A good spread of personal best times were recorded and generally good stroke technique was observed. A few areas that that need work include turns and dives.

Many swimmers achieved North Midlands times for next year, and some came close to achieving next year’s Cheshire times; Eleanor Ma achieved her first Cheshire qualifying time in 200m freestyle.

Swimmer of the weekend goes to Eleanor Ma for good all round swimming, achieving personal best times in all events entered as well as silver medal or better in every event entered. Eleanor is now within a whisker of Cheshire qualifying times in the individual medley, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events and now has a freestyle qualifying time.
