KRSC wins prestigious Kingston Sports Awards

KRSC took home several awards at the annual Kingston Sports Awards event, held on 14th November. The annual awards recognises sporting achievement and commitment to sports groups and individuals in Kingston and was attended by local dignitaries and sports aficionados from across the sporting world.KRSC’s Ann Van Beukelen, longest serving volunteer, official, coach and former swimmer, received the very special Mayor’s Award for her 40 years of service.  Presenting the award, Mayor Geoff Austin said:“It was my pleasure to be able to attend and present at the Kingston Sport Awards. I’m a firm believer that sport brings communities together and events like this celebrate the brilliant effort of both individuals, coaches and teams alike.”KRSC Head Coach, Damien Bryan, received a Borough medal for his support in the London Youth Games, 2016.  Damien took on the responsibility for all of the aquatic sports in RBK, organising and coaching teams for swimming and water polo for both mini and junior categories.  The teams did really well, and RBK is really excited to build on their successes of this year.KRSC swimmer Benny Romberg, won an RBK medal for his Gold Medal in the mini para London Youth Games 50m backstroke open age event.  Benny had been nominated for Para Sports Person of the year for RBK.  Benny, we hope you’re not too disappointed to have been pipped to the gold on this occasion, by a Rio 2016 Paralympic silver medallist, nonetheless!Other KRSC nominees and RBK medal award winners, who all deserve congratulating include:Sally-Anne Hawley and Doreen Seal for their tireless and cheerful voluntary work for the club spanning many years.  Cameron Frame and Rebecca Gravell also received RBK  nominations.  Well done to you all.
