Athlete Welfare in Sport Conference
Swim Ireland is delighted to share details for the 2026 Athlete Welfare in Sport Conference, delivered in partnership with European Aquatics and Sport Ireland. While this is an international conference designed for Swimming and Aquatic National Federations across Europe, it is also fully open to all Irish National Governing Bodies and Local Sports Partnerships.
For Irish NGBs and LSPs, this event offers a unique opportunity to:
- Learn directly from leading European experts on safeguarding, reporting models, and investigation practices;
- Strengthen your organisation’s approach to athlete welfare, aligning with emerging international standards;
- Connect with peers across Ireland and Europe, sharing challenges, solutions, and best practice;
- Bring new insights back to your sport, supporting safer, more confident environments for athletes, coaches, and volunteers.
We are honoured to host this significant gathering, bringing together leaders, practitioners and advocates who share a commitment to ensuring that sport is a safe, supportive and positive place for all athletes. Athlete welfare is central to the integrity and long‑term success of sport, and this Conference offers an invaluable opportunity to exchange knowledge, research and best practice across organisations and nations.
As strong supporters of athlete‑centred sport, we are particularly pleased that this Conference will provide space for meaningful discussion on safeguarding, wellbeing, ethical leadership, and the structures needed to support athletes at every stage of their sporting journey. By learning from experts—and from each other—we can continue to strengthen our collective approach to athlete welfare across all levels of Irish and international sport.
Swim Ireland looks forward to welcoming NGB and LSP representatives for this important global conversation on athlete welfare in sport.
