European Aquatics announces details of 2026 Swimming Officials Clinic in Sofia
European Aquatics has confirmed full details of the Swimming Clinic 2025–2026, which will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 28 February to 1 March 2026, providing an essential education opportunity for officials across the continent.
The clinic will offer a unique opportunity to learn about the new World Aquatics Competition Regulations and how these will be applied, as well as to hear about officiating experiences in ice swimming, Special Olympics and masters swimming. Participants will also be able to put questions directly to a panel of leading experts, supporting open discussion and practical problem solving.
All certified swimming officials wishing to participate in European Aquatics events during 2026 must attend this important clinic, either in person or via the online facility, details of which will be announced in due course. Officials who do not participate may not be eligible to be appointed to one of the European Aquatics swimming championships in 2026.
The programme will be hosted at the Hotel Mercure Sofia City, with both on-site and online participation options available. Registration is managed through the European Aquatics Academy platform. Fees are €95 for in-person attendance at the official hotel, €145 for online participation, and €145 for in-person attendance without accommodation.
The clinic content will cover a wide range of topics, including the philosophy of officiating, the role of Referee, Starter and Control Room Supervisor, professional behaviour on the pool deck, and European Aquatics officiating protocols for 2026 events. Sessions dedicated to ice swimming, masters, para and Special Olympics competitions will broaden understanding of the sport’s diverse formats.
