Part–Time Duty Manager – Sean MacDermott Street Pool

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Participation Team as Swim Ireland embarks on a new 4-year strategy. The Participation Team are responsible for providing participation opportunities and solutions across Ireland for people to swim regardless of their age, ability, background, or interest. Infrastructure has been included in the Swim Ireland strategy as a core pillar, and operating Sean McDermott Street Swimming Pool plays an important role in supporting more people to engage with aquatics within the Dublin 1 and surrounding areas.  This initiative is in partnership with Dublin City Council.

Role and Reporting Structure

The Duty Manager will report to the Pool Operations Manager and will have responsibility for the supervision of staff and delivery of services in Sean MacDermott Street Pool including general supervision, reception duties, dealing with bookings and marketing the centres.

Key Areas of Responsibility

 Responsibilities for the Duty Manager include but are not limited to the following:

  • Arranging for the opening and closing of the facility each day at the hours as fixed and assisting with the overall function of the reception area
  • Supervising the day to day operation of the facility and pool, ensuring that required levels of staffing, security, safety and general cleanliness are maintained
  • Supervising and checking admissions and bookings and accounting for all money received
  • Supervising on site staff, handling enquiries and complaints and ensuring that an appropriate level of service is maintained, together with a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensuring that all equipment and supplies are controlled and recorded as required and that maintenance, cleaning and repairs are properly carried out.
  • Promote and deliver a high standard of customer service.
  • Operation of the chlorination, filtration, ventilation and heating plants and testing of pool water.
  • Supervising staff and activities in the facility.
  • Representing the Pool Operations Manager as required, overseeing all activities, operations and staff on site to include the Swim Ireland Aquatics Academy programme.
  • Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

 

Qualification and Skills

  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Pool plant management experience and qualifications are an advantage but not essential, training will be provided.
  • Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification.
  • Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
  • Eligible to work in Ireland on a full-time basis.
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT and software packages and willingness to learn and aptitude to use new information systems.

Remuneration and Location

  • The package will include a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Position Tenure: 3-year part-time-time contract.
  • Position Location: Sean McDermott Street Pool, Dublin 1.
  • Weekend availability
