Team Ireland Bring Curtain Down in Singapore with Two Silver Medals
Team Ireland contested two finals on the last day of competition at the World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore coming out with two podium finishes to round off a very successful week.
Dearhbhaile Brady was first up and added to her bronze medal from earlier in the week with a stunning silver in the S6 50m Butterfly. This was Brady’s second World Championships and her first World Championship Medals.
Ní Riain followed her teammates medal winning performance by adding a fifth medal to her collection, bronze in the SM13 200m IM touching the wall in a time of 2:29.75
Speaking after the final about her five medal haul Ní Riain said: “To be honest that was my goal coming here, not a goal that I obviously told anyone but you know what I wanted to achieve coming here. The time there wasn’t the best but I suppose it’s just about learning to race all these events at a major like this.”
