European Aquatics invites applications for Audit Committee vacancy
European Aquatics has announced the opening of nominations to fill one vacancy on its Audit Committee for the 2025–2028 term.
The committee plays a vital role in ensuring transparency and integrity across the organisation’s financial processes, overseeing the annual audit, reviewing financial reports, monitoring the work of external auditors, and ensuring that robust internal controls are in place. It works closely with the Treasurer and Deputy Executive Director, reporting annually to Congress and, when appropriate, recommending the discharge of the Bureau.
In line with European Aquatics’ strong commitment to diversity and gender balance, candidates from under-represented backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply. The organisation is seeking someone with a background or education in auditing, accounting or finance, who can act fully independently and hold no formal role within any national federation. This independence is essential to the committee’s ability to scrutinise financial matters without conflicts of interest.
While nominations from member federations are welcome, independent candidates are also urged to apply directly to the European Aquatics Office or Treasurer, or to contact European Aquatics Treasurer Andida Bouma in advance to discuss their interest. Nominations must be submitted by Sunday 7 September 2025 and should include the completed nomination form, a curriculum vitae and a recent photograph.
The appointment is an opportunity to contribute to the highest standards of governance within one of Europe’s most prominent sporting bodies. The Audit Committee’s work underpins the trust of athletes, federations and stakeholders by ensuring that financial practices are sound, transparent and accountable.
