Nine European Aquatics delegates appointed to World Aquatics Bureau
At the 2025 World Aquatics Congress in Singapore, European Aquatics secured strong representation on the newly elected World Aquatics Bureau, with nine European members taking up key roles. Among them, Portugal’s Antonio Silva, President of European Aquatics, was elected as Second Vice President of the global federation.
Silva is also one of five Europeans appointed as Continental Representatives, alongside Kyriakos Giannopoulos (Greece), Otylia Jędrzejczak (Poland), Sarah Keane (Ireland), and Josip Varvodić (Croatia). Their nominations were backed overwhelmingly by European national federations, with 98% voting in favour.
In addition, four Europeans were chosen as World-at-Large Representatives following a direct vote by European federations. These include Olympic champion Pernille Blume (Denmark), Camelia-Alina Potec (Romania), Vanja Udovičić (Serbia), and Erkan Yalçın (Turkey).
This new group of European members brings energy, experience, and a shared vision for the future of aquatics. Their presence on the Bureau ensures Europe will continue to have a strong voice in shaping the direction of the sport globally.
