Day Two of the 2025 Swim Ireland National Age Group Championships Takes Place in UL

The second day of the 2025 Swim Ireland National Age Group Championships took place today at the UL Arena in Limerick.

In the Open 200m Freestyle Relay (12yrs), Trojan secured gold with a time of 2:08.04, while Aer Lingus claimed victory in the girls’ event with 2:06.11. In the Open 400m Freestyle Relay, Portadown took gold in 4:01.10, and Trojan topped the podium once again, this time clocking 4:08.04 in the girls’ event.

Bangor’s Chloe Stewart (9:50.68) was the only swimmer to break the ten-minute barrier in the 13yrs Girls 800m Freestyle, taking gold. Portadown’s Ella Kanis-Dickson followed closely with 9:51.49 to claim the national title.

Alvar Joakit (Wexford) bagged another national gold with a time of 2:35.30 in the 12yrs Open 200m Backstroke final. The 13yrs title went to Eoghan McQuillan (Lisburn) in 2:26.01, while Dolphin swimmer Lev Lobanets brought the 14yrs gold back to Cork with a time of 2:17.19.

The Girls 50m Freestyle saw a change of pace as swimmers competed for national honours. Rhona Raleigh (West Cork Orcas) was first to stop the clock, winning 12yrs gold in 29.89. Chloe Stewart (Bangor) topped the 13yrs podium in 28.57, and Freya Moore (Ards) took 14yrs gold in 28.24.

In the Open 50m Freestyle, Victor Virlan (Drogheda) won the 12yrs gold in 28.70. The 13yrs title went to Luka Griffin (Cookstown) with 26.50, while Dolphin’s Lev Lobanets returned to the podium to claim the 14yrs gold in 26.22.

Another Dolphin swimmer took centre stage in the Girls 100m Butterfly as Philippa Costello claimed the 12yrs gold. Olivia Falls (Bangor) won the 13yrs race in 1:06.30, while her teammate Rebecca Lavery secured the 14yrs title in 1:05.50.

The penultimate race of the day, the Open 100m Butterfly, saw Wexford’s Daniel Jordan win the 12yrs gold in 1:10.38. Seb Dunne (Dolphin) claimed the 13yrs title in 1:06.34, and Egan Hearty (Sliabh Beagh) took 14yrs gold in 1:03.97.

The day concluded with the Girls 200m Individual Medley. Quinn Allen (Aer Lingus) took the 12yrs gold in 2:39.90. There was a tie for gold in the 13yrs as Bangor’s Olivia Falls and Limerick’s Meadhbh Ní Riain shared the national title with 2:25.29. While d Rebecca Lavery (2:27.37) rounded out the session, winning gold in the 14yrs event.
