Glaciers play a major role in maintaining global ecosystems, regulating sea levels and supporting biodiversity. But a recent study reveals that climate change is accelerating their melting at an alarming rate. Between 2019 and 2023, glaciers lost an average of over 400 billion metric tons of ice each year — a record-breaking figure.
