Catterson and Greene Join Walshe and Dingley as Dare to Believe Ambassadors

0 2

The Olympic Federation of Ireland has announced the latest additions to the Dare to Believe Olympic Schools Programme, coinciding with Allianz Ireland becoming the official sponsor of the programme, as well as its new title sponsor.

The announcement revealed an additional twenty-one new Olympic and Paralympic athletes to the programme, including Paris 2024 Olympian, Victoria Catterson and two-time Olympian, Darragh Greene (Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024), bringing the total number of ambassadors to forty-four athletes, which includes three swimmers and one diver. Catterson and Green will join current ambassadors Ellen Walshe, who has represented Team Ireland at two Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020 & Paris 2024) and retired diver, Oliver Dingley, who also represented Team Ireland at two Games (Rio 2016 & Tokyo 2020).

The hugely popular programme is centred on the Olympic values and allows schoolchildren across Ireland to meet their sporting heroes, listen to their stories and become inspired by our Olympians.

The Olympic Federation of Ireland revealed that in 2024, 131,636 students benefited from the Dare to Believe programme, across 3,548 schools. This incorporated 132 Olympic ambassador school and club visits, with 82% of the schools being DEIS schools. The Olympian Live! Webinars were reached by 59,447 children across primary and secondary schools.
