Deaf Sports Ireland Seeks Talented Swimmers

0 4

Deaf Sports Ireland (DSI) is on the lookout for talented and passionate swimmers to join the National Team.

With a long and proud history in swimming, Deaf Sports Ireland is committed to revitalizing the Irish team and taking it to new heights. The organisation is eager to bring together the best swimmers from across the country to represent the nation on the international stage. Deaf Sport Ireland aim to foster a dynamic and competitive team that showcases the incredible talent within the community.

One of the exciting opportunities awaiting the national team members is the chance to compete in the Deaflympics in Tokyo in 2025.  These games will be held in Japan for the first time and mark the 100th anniversary of the first Deaflympics held in Paris in 1924.  This year’s Games are shaping up to be one of the most successful games yet with 76 countries confirmed and over 9000 athletes, delegates and officials attending. This prestigious event is a fantastic platform for athletes to shine, demonstrate their skills, and make lifelong memories. It is a unique chance to be part of something truly special and to represent Ireland with pride.

Participation in the Deaflympics and associated International Deaf Games and competitions is restricted to deaf people, who are defined as having a hearing loss of at least 55dB in the better ear (3 tone frequency average of 500, 1,000, and 2,000 Hertz, ANSI 1969 standard); testing will be required to confirm.

We encourage all interested swimmers to inquire/apply for assessment to Deaf Sport Ireland at admin@deafsportsireland.com and be part of this exhilarating journey. Please share this exciting news with your members and encourage them to contact DSI, who are eager to discover the next wave of swimming champions.
