Aylesbury Xmas Relay Gala 2019!

DSC were invited to the Arthur Blake Memorial Trophy on 21st December at The Aqua Vale Pool in Aylesbury.  Hosted by Aylesbury, this is always an event that our swimmers look forward to as so close to Christmas, which means everyone is always in fine voice and Christmas cheer. Unfortunately dogged by poorly swimmers, DSC battled on, and were able to provide a squad for this event.

An exciting evening of racing took place with 30 relays to battle through. Fab results came through from many of the mixed relays and of course the Squadron (final event) did not disappoint. Unfortunately DSC had a handful of DQ’s mainly due to lack of experience in the handovers, and this cost us the 2nd place position on the night making 3rd overall. 

Final results were as follows;

1st place – Aylesbury Yellows – 103 points

2nd place – Leighton Buzzard – 79 points

3rd place – Dunstable – 66 points

4th place – Aylesbury Blues – 28 points

DSC achieved 5 1st place positions, 12 2nd places and 5 3rds.

Difficult to call swimmers of the gala this time, but coaches chose Carmello Vassallo-Todaro and Rhianne Carrick for the many swims they had to do, and for being first class on the night – well done to both.

DSC finally now have a much needed break for Christmas, whilst enjoying a couple of sessions at our brand new home pool back in Dunstable.  Training will re-start in earnest in Dunstable on 2nd January 2020 in preparation for Beds County Champs at the end of January.
