Duel in the pool round 2

Kate Eaton writes: On Saturday 19th March Bromley and Leander swimmers met for the second Bromley vs Leander Dual Meet of the season – the first having been last September.

This time the venue was Alleyn’s instead of JAGS and it was the turn of our younger swimmers to be put through their race paces (although a group of senior swimmers was also there to show them the way). There was some fantastic racing and there were some nail-bitingly close finishes.

Team Leander came away with 82 PBs out of a total of 120 races (a 68% success rate) with some swimmers attempting events such as 100 fly for the first time ever. Swimmers displayed great team spirit and nearly took the roof off with their cheering during the final event – the squadron relay. Bromley pipped Leander to the post for the squadron event but as the final scores were tallied it became clear that Leander had held the day with 373 points to Bromley’s 277.
