CATASTROPHE’S Sharon Horgan has talked about “revisiting characters once the kids have grown up” in a major season five tease.
The hit Channel 4 sitcom appeared to conclude at the end of series four earlier this year, with Sharon and co-star Rob Delaney swimming together after his mother’s funeral.
But speaking to Digital Spy, Sharon, 49, revealed how the pair’s story could continue in the future.
She said: “We often talked while we were filming about the idea of revisiting those characters.
“This was before we knew it was going to end.
“We talked about revisiting them and they’re that bit older and their kids are at a different stage where a whole new set of challenges come along, because there’s only so many times you can watch people with small kids flail.”
Catastrophe’s initial premise saw the single characters – called Sharon and Rob – become a couple after she unexpectedly falls pregnant following a fling while he was in London on a business trip.
They subsequently marry before the birth of their son and go on to have a daughter, but Sharon thinks revisiting the couple a few years down the line could be funny.
She continued: “I guess getting that bit older and your kids being older and all the anxieties and new problems that come with that, that’s fertile ground.
“But I don’t know. It depends if they made it back to the shore or not I guess.”

In the series four finale, the couple looked like they would split, before making peace in the final scene.
Rob said: “Like, I’m a husk of a man. If you want to be with this, I don’t care where we are”.
Sharon then revealed she was pregnant, but Rob admitted he had seen her pregnancy test a day earlier, revealing:”I threw up when I saw it, but then I thought, ‘Why not? It could be fun!'”
