Brothers Conn and Greg Bertish are about to embark on a mysterious surf odyssey of the Indian Ocean. They will be sending a daily blog of their adventure, but where are they going? Clues are coming, day by day.

Blog1Chasing waves on the moon Greg and Conn Bertish were invited to explore an archipelago of islands in the southern hemisphere in search of potential surf setups: points, beach-breaks, reef passes and more.

'We'll be departing for this unknown surf destination this Sunday and returning 10 days later. Stay tuned with our daily reports and find out if we score, or get skunked.'

This is the first post of our exploratory trip into pretty unknown surfing shores. We’ve seen a few photos, an article or two and a hand written map to a spot with a name that doesn’t make sense. But none have given us the lay of land, the right conditions, the official surf zeitgeist of the place; it has really been like searching for waves on the moon.

So Greg and I will keep you updated as often as we can, with the good and bad, the 6ft grinding barrels or the 1ft mashing slop. We’re not sure what we’ll find, but would like you to join us, in the revelation we hope to uncover.

Ahoy.

Clue #1: Swell maps look interesting, so packing for variable conditions: Fishes, short boards, sails and sups. mmm
