Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi Get Unexpected Makeover Ahead of FIFA World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Vinícius Júnior are four of the greatest soccer players on the planet.

They’re also the talk of the internet thanks to a viral makeover courtesy of Lego.

The beloved brand has miniaturized each of the legendary footballers in a set of new Lego Editions collectibles.

The announcement came via an internet-breaking Instagram video. In the clip, the four legends work together to build a 2,482-piece Lego replica of the FIFA World Cup Trophy. Things take a turn for the competitive when each player debuts their own Lego figurine and vies to place it atop the trophy.

“It’s not every day you get to be transformed into a Lego set!” said Ronaldo in a press release from Lego. “I’m incredibly honored to be part of this new lineup of LEGO Editions, alongside three other incredible players in the sport. I’m looking forward to seeing fans from all over the world discover my story and sporting heritage by building this LEGO set, blending football and creativity.”

The 41-year-old star is expected to play for Portugal in the World Cup later this summer. This will be his sixth time competing for the trophy.

While Júnior will also be aiming for his first World Cup win, Mbappé and Messi have both won before, in 2018 and 2022, respectively.

"Similar to football, LEGO play is all about building and rebuilding, trying new things, learning from mistakes and celebrating successes,” said Messi. I love how these LEGO sets bring my on-pitch moments to life in a fun and imaginative way. I'm thrilled for fans to explore the magic of football through these sets and together celebrate the sport we all love.”

Each player will receive their own Lego set, immortalizing a cinematic moment from the pitch.

Ronaldo and Messi’s sets are currently available for pre-order, while Mbappé and Júnior’s will drop at a later date.
